So every time you type something like us.rr. or a Domain Name Service (dns) has to translate that into the ip addie ( like for example 123.246.789.123) Since you can connect to the numerical ip, but not to the alpha domain name, that tells me there is some prob with DNS, most likely at your provider's level.

But the internet really works on ip addies (the numbers). Since you say that you are able to talk to other people that are in that room, find out what the server address that they are connecting to is, then try connecting to that address using /server replacing with the actual address.

Domain names are alphabetical and easier to remember. That is different for each one, so there isnt one "number for efnet". Simply put, each server (for that matter everything) has both an alpha version for their "address" and a numeric one. That one is usually a lil slow for me to connect to, so be patient, it kicks in heres another onefor efnet: /server 198.175.186.5 is installed it will use that to resolve the server name passed. Limit how many networks or other apps you are running. The IRC component cant be sure how long your userhost mask will be every time you. The alpha and numeric i posted ARE for an EFNET server. Connect to the servers IP instead of domain (i.e., /server 123.456.789.123 instead of /server ). Trying to use random on DALnet isnt working, nor has it been working on EFNet for me. Actually, i remembered later that if you try to connect to Random US EFNET server, the us.rr. is what comes up, so i think the rr may well stand for roundrobin rather than a specific server name.
